Email Finder
Privacy Policy
Summary
Email Finder is a Chrome extension that scans the web page you are viewing and shows a list of the email addresses found on it, so you can copy them from the popup. We do not collect, sell, share or transmit your personal data. The scan happens inside your browser, and the results are never sent to us or to anyone else.
Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email address or any account information. There are no accounts.
- We do not collect or send your browsing history, the URLs you visit or the contents of web pages to any server.
- We do not send the email addresses found on a page to any server. They are shown only in the extension's popup on your device.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, trackers or third-party scripts.
How the extension works
When you click the Email Finder button on the toolbar, the extension reads the text and links of the page you are currently viewing, looks for patterns that match email addresses, and displays the results in the popup. This processing happens locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the list is discarded when you close the popup or leave the page, unless you copy it yourself.
Information stored on your device
Email Finder does not keep a database of the pages you visit or the emails it finds. If any settings or temporary data are kept, they are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's extension storage and never leave your device through the extension. If you use Chrome's browser sync, Chrome itself may sync extension settings between your own devices; that is handled by Google under its own privacy policy, not by us.
You can remove any data held by the extension at any time by removing the extension or clearing its data in Chrome.
Permissions and how they are used
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| activeTab | To access the page you are currently viewing, only after you click the extension button, so that email addresses on that page can be found. |
| scripting | To run the email-detection code on the current page and return the results to the popup. |
These permissions are used only for the extension's single purpose: finding email addresses on the page you are viewing.
Use of data
Page content that the extension reads is used only to provide its single purpose of finding and listing email addresses on the current page. We do not use or transfer it for advertising, credit or lending decisions, or any purpose unrelated to that function, and we do not allow humans to read it.
Sharing with third parties
We do not sell, trade, rent or share your data with anyone.
Responsible use
Email Finder only displays addresses that are already publicly visible on the page you open. You are responsible for how you use the email addresses you copy, including complying with applicable laws on email marketing and data protection (such as CAN-SPAM, GDPR and similar regulations).
Children's privacy
The extension does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above. If we ever add features that handle data differently, we will describe the change here before it takes effect.
